Maria Cline is a multifaceted artist living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, who explores the communal themes of nourishment and care in the context of the body and its tactile and somatic experiences. During her time in college, Maria worked at a local fine-dining restaurant which proved to have an impact on their artistic practice as hospitality and table-setting became habitually profound. A fifteen-year background in dance informs her practice as well.

Maria’s work stitches the connection between mind and body that life’s events can often sever. This is currently birthing through studies in decorative table linens, tapestries, and embroidered scenes. Cline’s pieces gently hold the reader and participant, handling reflective themes calling attention to the self that might otherwise be overlooked. Cline’s work holds space for the thought, What does it mean to be in a Body?

Maria received a number of scholarships while attending MCAD, including the Hearst Senior Web + Multimedia Merit Scholarship. She has exhibited and performed in places such as the Hosmer Public Library, Fresh Eye Gallery, and the Grain Belt Bottling House.

Commissions, reflections, ideas…always welcome. Let’s have a conversation, in whatever shape it may be.
